Dear all visitors,

This website is also your website. It will grow with your help. Any of you who want
to help us in enhancing this database is welcome to send us their pictures. The
pictures of live seashells may be taken in real habitat or not. For instance only Cone
Shells and Cowries related pictures are required.

You can send as many pictures you want.

Type of file : shall be .jpeg, .jpg or.gif files.
Resolution : No matter, files will be automatically resized to 1024x768 pixels.
Adress to send the files : info@live-seashells.com

Informations needed (optionnal) : Year of the photo, Where the shell was found (at least the country).
Any additionnal information on habitat will be added to.

Example : I'm summiting a picture of Conus anabathrum Cross, 1865. The shell was found on a sandbar in Tampa
Bay ,south of St. Petersburg Florida at low tide in the winter in 2001.

We will not show pictures of live shells out of the water. If you have a digital camera and
if you have no mean to make pictures underwater nor in an aquarium you may do this :
- Use a plastic container and if possible fill it with sand or gravel (less artificial).
- If you are on the shore, try to locate a sea puddle where water is calm enough and place
the shell there in order to make some pictures in this "natural container".
- Exceptionnaly, if the shell is under a dead coral you may take the picture of it out of the
water.

A good photo shall be shot that way :

=> The animal is facing you
=> The syphon, foot and tentacles/eyes can be spoted
=> The shell can be seen and easily identifyed
